Are you done with the thinking?

Oh no, don’t get me wrong, ‘thinking’ is not bad. But yes, ‘overthinking’ could be tiresome, mentally exhausting, and might become a mood spoiler. Similarly, ‘analyzing’ is not wrong, but yes ‘over-analyzing could prove to be one.

Yes, I do agree that it is necessary for most situations to analyze all sides of the discussion while making an important decision. But, over-analyzing a situation may cause an unnecessary headache. Remember, you cannot control everything happening around you, so better not to worry and overthink over the same issue. Over-thinking could lead us to lose interest in what we had planned to do, even before giving it a try. It also leads to negative thinking, which can impact our everyday life.

Here’s a virtual handshake for all those who are reading this and are able to relate to it. Then probably you are also one of those who overthink and overanalyze almost every situation every minute before taking a step forward. Here I would like to say that, you might miss the fun in life😊if you do not break out of the trap of over-thinking and over-analyzing every situation in life.

  • For instance: Let us assume that the salary offered at work is not as per the expectation. This might put us into doubt whether to accept the offer or not. There is a possibility that many other doubtful questions might arise in front of us.

– Here I would like to advise all, let us not presume everything in advance. We never know what is in store for us. It might turn to be the case that the workplace has superb work culture and a very positive environment. Who knows then we may end up working at that same place for a longer duration compared to what we had initially planned.

  • Suppose we have an argument with a client or a friend and we are constantly worried about the consequences now. Of course, nobody wishes to spoil relationships with a friend or client.

– There might be chances that our friend with which we argued has already forgotten about it. I believe, having discussions can definitely solve problems to some extent. Instead of over-analyzing a situation, we can definitely consider a healthy discussion as an option.

  • Let us suppose that we messed up with a project at work that too when the deadline is close enough. Obviously, we might freak out in such a case.

– Remember this, it is common for us humans to make mistakes (haven’t you heard the same many times?) so yes, making errors is not a crime. Let us embrace our mistakes and learn from them.

  • Let us suppose that we recently finished giving a GMAT or IELTS entrance and worrying about the results.

– Relax! Life doesn’t end here. We can always give ourselves another chance ourselves. Worrying too much until the result is out, won’t be of any use and it certainly won’t change your result.

  • Starting your own business project or a startup but worried about the response it would get.

– The simple answer to it is, give your best shot, and leave the rest.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath, understand this -all your thoughts causing you to stress are still only thoughts and not a reality. Now open your eyes and look around, nobody is standing with a gun to bombard you with consequences. So, instead of worrying, we can help ourselves distract from thoughts that have been pulling us down and focus more on creating something useful.  After all the world is not such a bad place.

There are ways to distract ourselves if we realize that we are trapped in negative thoughts. Yes, I understand, it is easier said than done, but it is not impossible.

Music: Start listening to your favorite song at a high volume. This always works and helps in distraction. Don’t go for light music, you might end up sleeping! (just kidding). Music has healing powers, it always helps.

Phone a friend: Pick up the phone and call your best friend or parents and start having a conversation. Firstly, this will help you divert your mind quickly and also you may end up receiving a solution to your problem. Secondly, there is also a possibility that you might end up forgetting about the problem totally.

Watch funny videos: This is another effective way to distract your thoughts and entertain yourself.

People with a positive attitude: Surround yourself with positive-minded people. Trust me, a positive aura is all that we need.

  1. Nikita, it’s a good attempt. Keep boosting us with positivity. We don’t brood deliberately… but our mind, the think tank, plays the foul game.God bless you with more creativity.

  2. Yes,if we constantly remind this to ourselves and follow our heart as I mentioned in my first blog,I am sure it would help us in many ways and we can have desired results 🙂
